Q: Do you grade loose toys that are not complete?
A: In general we require loose toys to have all of their accessories to be graded. There are a few exceptions for figures that are very rare. If you need to inquire further, contact us.

Q: If I submit a loose figure that is in a sealed baggie will you remove it from the baggie for grading?
A: You will have the choice on the submission form whether you'd like it graded and left in the baggie or removed from the baggie.

AFA provides a good-faith effort to spot reproduction weapons, but doesn't guarantee their authenticity beyond a reasonable doubt unless CIB's services are utilized for authentication.  However, AFA does have policies in place to protect our customers.  A brief outline of those policies can be found below.
A loose figure submitted for grading will have its weapons and accessories looked at to see if they are obvious reproductions. The grader will make a good-faith effort to check the authenticity of a figure's weapons or accessories. If a reproduction accessory (or incorrect accessory) ends up paired and graded with a figure, a person can resubmit that figure to AFA for recasing. AFA, upon confirming that the accessory is reproduction or incorrect, will provide an authentic or correct accessory up to $25 in value as well as recase the figure free of charge. If the value of the weapon or accessory is more than $25, a check in the amount of $25 will be issued to the customer in order to offset the cost of the purchase of a new accessory. As before, recasing will be free of charge.
